Let’s Celebrate Hot Tea Month

It is officially NATIONAL HOT TEA MONTH…I just love January for that reason. It is cold out, holidays are over, and we need nothing better than a warm cup of tea to make us feel cozy. Whoever picked January to celebrate hot tea knew exactly what they were doing! It is 15 degrees outside today in Connecticut…what a perfect time to put on the kettle.

I guess it would not come as a surprise to anyone that we make a big deal of this event inside our company. We send out tea facts almost daily, we hold tea parties, we have raffles events…for it is a national holiday (at least to us) or is at least nationally recognized. Either way, I ask you to raise your cup of tea (you have to go get one first — Bigelow I hope) and let’s cheers this special occasion….

Bigelow Annual Tea Celebrates Hot Tea Month

In honor of January being Hot Tea Month, the 3 Bigelow facilities each host an afternoon tea party for the employees. These annual events are a wonderful way to celebrate the joy of drinking tea and to foster a sense of fellowship and fun amongst co-workers.

At the corporate headquarters in Fairfield, CT, the Customer Service and Call Center staffs host the afternoon tea annually. This year, in addition to a wide variety of Bigelow teas being offered, a selection of delicious food items was served, including cucumber sandwiches, sweet and savory ham sandwiches, and scones with fresh whipped cream and jam. Also, brownies with Bigelow vanilla caramel tea glaze were served, along with sugar cookies drizzled with Bigelow EggNogg’n tea glaze. The tea and the food were presented on tables covered with white linen tablecloths and adorned with several beautiful flower arrangements. While the tea and food were being enjoyed, a raffle was held where every employee had a chance to win items from the Bigelow Direct Marketing catalog.

The annual Bigelow afternoon teas are wonderful events that are eagerly anticipated and are a great way to celebrate January being Hot Tea Month.

There’s no excuse.  Bigelow Tea has a flavor for every palette.  Try Green Tea with Pomegranate or the ever popular Constant Comment tea.  It’s easy.  Shop online at or at your local supermarket.  Wait…there’s more…be sure to check the Bigelow website and blog on a regular basis for recipes, entertainment ideas, more health facts and celebrity tea sightings.

Tea’s Role in New Year’s Resolutions

The most commonly made New Year’s resolution is the promise to lose weight. Unfortunately, “the majority of your New Year’s resolutions become New Year’s delusions by the end of February,” says Dale Berry, Results Coach and author for Selfhelp Magazine.

That doesn’t need to be the case. In addition to the ten tips Berry offers for general resolution success, tea lovers have another ace up our sleeves when it comes to shedding pounds: 2007 has illuminated new potential for tea as a weapon against the battle of the bulge!

Over the past year, we’ve learned how green tea may aid in weight management by reducing body fat and by providing a slight boost in metabolism. That’s encouraging news! And it’s in addition to earlier research that suggests tea helps prevent obesity in the first place. In 2007 we also witnessed how many people enjoy tea as part of plans to beat the battle of the bulge. So, take heart! You’re not alone!

Armed with this new knowledge, there’s no better time than January – which is National Hot Tea Month – to ring in the New Year and celebrate the beginnings of a new you!
